GRANTS of lands with other deeds of the Kings of Castile and Leon, from Alfonso IX. to Ferdinand the Catholic of Aragon and Isabella of Castile, chiefly relating to the Hospital Del Rey at Burgos; from 1165 to 1484. Followed by later confirmations of its possessions, to 1629. Lat. and Span. Appended are bullæ, of Alfonsos IX.-XI., Pedro I., Enrique III., Juan II., Ferdinand the Catholic; and of Popes Innocent VIII. and Urban VIII. Among them (24,804) is the Confirmation, by Alfonso the Wise, of Castile, of royal grants to the Hospital near the monastery of Sta. Maria Real, in Burgos; dated at Burgos, 30 Dec. Era 1292 [A.D. 1254], in which year, it is added, Edward eldest son of Henry [III.] King of England received knighthood from King

Alfonso in Burgos. Span. Subscribed a cross for the Royal signature, surrounded by the legend : "Signo del Rey Don Alfonso and by the confirmation of Don Juan Garcia in concentric circles; and attested by the Moorish kings of Granada, Murcia, and Niebla, and by 77 prelates and noblemen. The numerous witnesses were no doubt assembled to celebrate the marriage of Eleanor, sister of the King of Castille, with Prince Edward. With the bulla.
